About us

SecretDrop is a free tool from Agdir. We built it for ourselves, it worked, so we're giving it away.

Who we are

Agdir is a Norwegian agriculture technology company. We started in Arendal in 2017, after a conversation with a potato farmer down the road turned into a much longer one about how much of modern farming is paperwork, weather guesswork, and juggling tools built for somebody else's fields. Our answer was Agdir Farm — one platform for spray and fertilizer logs, compliance, sensors, and satellite data. Built in Norway, for Norwegian farmers.

Why a secret tool from a farming company?

Software people share secrets all day — database passwords, API keys, server logins, the occasional Wi-Fi code for a visitor. Too often those end up pasted into a chat thread or an email that lives forever. We wanted a dead-simple way to hand someone a credential that self-destructs the moment it's read. Nothing on the market felt light enough, so we built SecretDrop for our own team.

Free, no catch

It turned out useful enough that keeping it to ourselves felt stingy. So SecretDrop is public and free. There's no account, no email, nothing to upsell you. Under the hood it runs on Sirr, our engine for ephemeral secrets. Your secret is encrypted in transit and at rest with ChaCha20-Poly1305, and once it burns, even we can't read it. The service is built to SOC 2 security standards.

Where it runs

Agdir is a Norwegian company, and SecretDrop runs on servers in Germany — inside the EU, under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your secret never leaves European jurisdiction, and it only lives there until it's read or expires. Then it's gone for good.
